Kahlan had told both Jane and Florence her good news and Aphrodite and Sam were next on her list. She had so many female friends here, something she had never really been able to enjoy back in the Midlands, and it made her feel like she lived at Aydindril among Confessors once again.

Back home, a pregnancy would have everyone elated and Kahlan had found that was mostly the reaction on the island too. She had meant to put a note in Aphrodite's mailbox when she happened to spot her on the beach instead and quickly crossed over to her.

"Aphrodite! I have something to tell you!"

For someone normally very even-keeled, Kahlan was practically overflowing with excitement about her news and wanted to share it.
